Happy New Year!  PARS is excited to announce upcoming training opportunities for 2012:  Kansas Baseline and Understanding Addiction.  If you've never attended a PARS workshop, we  welcome the opportunity to meet you.

KANSAS BASELINE - March 22-23, 2012

 

8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

 

 

 

Would you like to become more aware of your beliefs, gain knowledge about alcohol and other drug dependency, and recognize the impact of alcohol and other drugs? Kansas Baseline is the training for you!

 

 

 

This two-day training increases awareness of the impact of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) on the individual, family, school and community. The training includes videos, lectures, group activities and guest speakers. A Baseline resource manual is also provided.

 

 

 

Participants must attend both days consecutively in order to receive certificates of attendance. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will receive certificates of attendance for 12.5 hours of training.

 

 

 

Please note that lunch is not provided. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

 

 

 

Cost for training is $75. This class is only offered once this year, so be sure to register early! 

 

UNDERSTANDING ADDICTION - May 15 or October 10

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  

This one-day program's goal is to increase the understanding of chemical and non-chemical addictions.

 

Through video, interactive learning, and case reviews, participants will:

  •  Define both chemical and non-chemical addiction.
  •  Understand the Bio/Genetic/Psycho/Social factors that influence addiction.
  •  Examine the neurobiology of addiction.
  •  Review the impact of culture and family systems on addiction, prevention and treatment.
  •  Increase awareness about available resources for the prevention, intervention and treatment of addiction.
  •  Review current drug trends and the subsequent effect on prevention and treatment.

Certificates of attendance for 6 hours are available for all participants. Lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided.
